Why I Built EmpowerEd
Financial literacy isn't a luxury. It's a legacy.
Join the first 500 supporters building the future of financial education. EmpowerEd is youth financial literacy built by a student, for students, and your support puts real money skills in the hands of the next generation.
Every level funds something specific. Pick the one that fits, and see exactly what it does.

Some supporters look at our tiers and want to do more than any of them allow. If that's you, don't round down to fit a box. Tell us your number, whatever it is, and put it entirely behind the mission.
Give Your Own AmountFinancial literacy isn't a luxury. It's a legacy.
Most people learn about credit scores the hard way, after the damage is done. Most learn about investing too late for compound interest to do its real work. EmpowerEd exists to change when that learning happens. I'm Stephen Yancey, a student founder from Boston, and I built EmpowerEd because too many people my age head into adulthood with no idea how money actually works. Not because they aren't smart, but because nobody taught them.
So we built the education ourselves. StackUp turns financial literacy into a game teens actually want to play, and our lessons cover budgeting, credit, saving, and investing in language built for ages 13 to 25. The platform is live, the work has earned back-to-back NAACP ACT-SO Boston Gold Medals in Entrepreneurship and a 2nd place finish at the Citizens Bank Power Pitch, and demand is growing faster than a self-funded student project can keep up with. That's where you come in.
Understanding money is the foundation of economic empowerment.
The typical white family holds about 6.3x the wealth of the typical Black family (Federal Reserve, 2022). Education is one of the few levers we can pull early.
Students who receive financial education are more likely to save, budget, and make informed decisions for life.
Financial literacy empowers people to break cycles of poverty and build generational wealth.
When youth understand money, they uplift entire communities through informed financial decisions.
Every contribution goes directly into building and delivering the program.
New lessons, animated videos, and gamified content that make financial education actually stick.
Development of our investing simulator and credit-building game, built right into StackUp.
Bringing EmpowerEd to students in person with our upcoming Boston launch event.
Reaching more schools and community programs so financial literacy gets to the young people who need it most.
Founding Supporters aren't just donors, they're part of the mission.
